This odd, irreverent spiritual memoir chronicles the author's accidental hallucinogenic journey to God and back with blunt comic undertones, undercutting the lofty gravitas typically associated with the "meeting God" genre. While making no claims regarding the "proof" of God in any way, this light-hearted true story is an entertaining and thought-provoking journey into the psychology of religion and the existence of God.

Critical praise for God In My Head

"God In My Head is a book for believers and non-believers to truly explore what resonates within themselves." - Portland Book Review, ★★★★ 1/2

"Fantastically original. With thought provoking candor and humor, the author relays the relatable dilemma of having one's previously held beliefs challenged -- a witty, occasionally absurd philosophical romp!" - BookLife Prize by Publisher's Weekly

"An often moving account that's just as outlandish and funny as the author's bizarre experience. Grisetti's God is more reminiscent of the alien in Carl Sagan's 1985 novel Contact than of anything in contemporary Christian literature." - Kirkus Reviews

"Josh Grisetti's book opens a brutally transparent window into an intimate and mystical spiritual pilgrimage. His clear writing style, and his gentle heart, need to be shared with a world that is thirsty for such generosity of spirit." - The White Rhino Report, ★★★★★

"This unexpectedly poignant memoir, regardless of your beliefs, is a refreshing contribution to the 'meeting God' genre, and will inspire personal reflections on important aspects of existence that lie far within and outside the realm of religion." - Self-Publishing Review, ★★★★ 1/2

God In My Head The true story of an exChristian who accidentally met God edition by Joshua Grisetti Religion Spirituality eBooks

As a "conservative" Christian, I was blessed with the warning that this is not your typical confirmation of everything you believe about our Creator. I read it with an open mind and was taken in by Mr. Grisetti's admirable honesty. He makes it clear that this is his unembelished account of his encounter with Devinity, but admits that he would not expect that everyone or maybe even anyone, would ever have an encounter with God in the same way that he did. We all know that God works in mysterious ways and if this is how He made a believer out of an otherwise doubting agnostic, then this Christian says, "Amen". My prayer is that Joshua doesn't let his encounter be a confirmation of everything he has always disagreed with about Christianity, but a doorway to a better understanding of what Christianity is really about. I contemplated being the first review with less than 5 Stars because of the many controversial assumptions about what traditional Christians believe, but Mr. Grisetti's brutal honesty and open minded conclusion about his own encounter, leads this Christian to praise God for another member added to a world in desperate need of more believers.

God In My Head The true story of an exChristian who accidentally met God edition by Joshua Grisetti Religion Spirituality eBooks Reviews

Just read this book. take the lessons you learn from it, and if you enjoyed it, please recommend to whomever you think could learn from it as well. Have a great day
After getting through the first part of the book (which, while entertaining, probably could have been condensed into a few paragraphs), the author shares his encounter with God from a decidedly post-Christian perspective - a perspective that I find to be quite refreshing. I'd take it all with a grain of salt, of course, but for anyone who has done some honest searching for God outside of traditional religion, they will notice elements that both confirm their observations and open their eyes to new possibilities. It goes beyond the traditional "after life experience" books and may make you rethink your concept of God if you dare read it with an open mind. Thanks for sharing this experience, Joshua; I appreciate it.
If you believe that God inspired the books of the Bible or other holy texts through divine communication with authors, why not venture into the possibility that God continues to communicate with this modern-day author? This true story documents how the author met God while sedated for a dental procedure. God's revelations about who He/She is, the Bible, Jesus, salvation, and other religious topics are shared with the reader. I found many of the revelations to coincide with my personal beliefs and with teachings of others such as Eckhart Tolle. If you enjoyed William Young's The Shack, you might find this book to be of interest. It was a stimulating read for me that made me want to recommend it to my book club for discussion.
Josh Grisetti's book isn't quite like anything I've read before. Although it has philosophical elements to it, it's not so much a philosophical treatise as it is the story of one man's fascinating journey from atheist to believer amidst the most unlikely circumstances -- an apparently drug-induced near-death experience in a dentist's office.

What makes the book so interesting is that Josh refuses to defend, apologize for or even prove his experience with the "God in his head" -- an experience sure to offend fundamentalists as well as atheists. He simply presents it as he saw it, and then offers his transformed life as testimony to its "truth".

It helps that Josh is a surprisingly strong writer, able to make sense out of what must have been a terribly confusing experience, and doing it with a snarky sense of humor. In fact, despite it being a life-changing experience, he continually refers to his visit with the Almighty as a hallucination rather than a vision.

But, whatever your take on it -- prophetic vision or weirdo trip -- it's definitely an interesting telling of a one-of-a-kind story, and well worth checking out.

(By the way, because we share the same last name, Josh and I are aware of each other. But we've never met and, believe it or not, we're not related.)
I am a frequent flier/reader of NDE/OOBE (etc) lit-- and have to say this book of Josh's had me laughing out loud - (and in actual snorting guffaw-like outbursts!) more often than I think has happened with any other NDE/sudden metaphysical-spiritual event account I've read.. His account of his experience felt completely genuine and sincere to me-- no punches pulled, either/neither... I admired his honesty especially because he knew aforehand that what he had to share was most likely not going to be received with open-armed acclaim and understanding from either the typical sci-skeptic's camp OR the traditional religionist camp.. Since I belong to neither of those camps (I'm one of Jane Robert's/Seth 's 'black sheep', thank yew veddy much-- baaaa)- I thoroughly enjoyed the book and heartily applaud Josh for so bravely sharing his personally meaningful experience with 'the world'.. ! Kudos to you, Josh- and don't let the turkey vultures get y' down... keep your treasure close to your <3.. I had a few direct link moments myself many years ago .. so, on that count, too, I appreciated the vividness with which you described your inner adventure..! <3 S D McLean (used my pen -name when I signed up on this page eons ago... and have no idea why I did that then, but dunno how to undo it now either,,,) lol
